Growing up in the family newsstand convinced me that it was my destiny to work in newspapers, so I enrolled in Modern Literature at the Cattolica university because it was, at the time, the only university in Milan offering a course in journalism. When the weekly I worked for as a publicist entrusted me with the cinema page, however, my life was turned upside down by a pleasure that I still adore: sitting in dark rooms to watch at least three films a day. From there, a thesis with honours in the History of Film Theory dedicated to Emir Kusturica, a doctorate on the various national cinemas of the former Yugoslavia and then the enormous good fortune to attend Ipotesi Cinema and learn about life on set through working with Ermanno Olmi (a maestro of Italian cinema, creator of numerous masterpieces and winner on several occasions of the Cannes and Venice festivals) and many other talents of his incredible and unique school, like Piergiorgio Gay. Thanks in part to them, after an early career as film editor, production assistant and assistant director, I realised – better late than never – that my true vocation was, yes, writing, but not newspaper articles – film scripts. I started writing seriously for cinema in 2005, when internationally respected director, actor and producer Nanni Moretti (winner of major film awards including the Berlin, Venice and Cannes film festivals), selected one of my feature film stories and financed its development into a screenplay (my first real contract in that field), following the process with a passion and dedication that taught me a lot. Since then, collaborating with many production companies, directors and co-authors, I have written over twenty-five feature-length screenplays, of which five have already been released and others are in the process of becoming films, at least fifty treatments, a hundred stories for feature films, dozens of short films and series projects and much more. A mass of work whose volume I only really grasped when writing the text for this site and summarising the provisional balance of more than fifteen years of work as a writer. This, after all, is often the fate of those who write for the audiovisual sector: what you see on the screens is only the tip of the iceberg. So I have collected here some of the work I love most – and in particular those that can still be optioned and purchased, which are labeled “PRODUCER WANTED”…
